Trained Space Monkeys

Mabel was so inspired by her recent trip with friends to a local Space Center (where the kids do Star-Trek-like missions) that she spent all her free time this week setting up to do a space mission here at home with her siblings. She set up space ships in beds, made a playlist of space-themed music, and made badges for the astronauts to wear. Some cousins ended up being able to participate when the mission was finally ready today, and it seems that a great time was had by all.

Here were the badges:

And here were the release forms:

do hereby swear to follow my Captain’s orders in any situation, be it peaceful or dangerous. I also swear to only do actions that I know are safe and helpful for myself and my crew.

And here was the mission briefing:

Mission Briefing

The USS thanks you for your dedicated service in the federation. As a celebration of the 150th anniversary of the USS’s existence, your mission is going to be an exclusive free exploration adventure.

Although we have many veterans and many newcomers who have been studying space since the creation of the USS, there is still plenty we do not know. In this mission, you are free to explore, discover, or study whatever you wish. If you would rather, you may visit alien species we already know and communicate with them. Also, you could land on a planet. The choice is yours! All we ask is that you do not do anything brash or anything that could endanger the USS. The universe is unknown, and therefore very potentially dangerous.

We have provided you with a variety of new equipment for this mission. We have also made the arrangements to have on board (along with some animal control workers) a specially trained monkey and fitting space suit to be used for any situation. You never know what will come in handy, and we have found space monkeys to be helpful in the past.

Your space ship has been connected with a new control panel, which your Captain will be trained to use. He now has access to monitors all across your ship.

Thanks again for your support in exploration of space, and good luck! Be on guard and be wise. We will welcome you back in a year. If you have any thing you need to talk to us about, use the laser light signal 32R6USS887T. We are here to help you.

Nicholas Dixon, President of the USS Federation

I came on to the computer to find some pictures ( we’re using a screen) for ours and saw this post. The “mission” was so cool!

I hope President Nick Dixon is more trustworthy than President Dick Nixon was.

It’s just not fair, the amount of ingenuity and imagination your kids have. 🙂

Hello, it should be President Mabel! Or would her siblings have protested? lol. So creative!
