1200 miles and walletloads of cash

After nearly fourteen years of parenthood, and having taken family trips to places as far-ranging as Washington D.C. and western Europe, we finally took our kids to Disneyland.

It was fun. It was exhausting. Some things went wrong. Some things went beautifully. We liked it enough that we’re thinking of going again, in five years, or fourteen. I want a nap first.

We took the obligatory photos and I might even do the obligatory blog post (or I’ll cut-and-paste some other family’s Disneyland post) but for now I leave you with this one image. It wasn’t cheap.

Ike and Rose playing Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters.

Tis is the season for Disneyland! I think you are the fourth blogger I have seen who is doing a Disney trip within a two week period.

I know! I had heard that aside from President’s Day weekend, February was a quiet time of year to go, but I think people are catching on. Thursday afternoon (our first day there) was PACKED and I kept saying to Dean, “This is the OFF season?” Fortunately Friday and Saturday were cold and rainy enough to be less packed, at least for Disneyland (which is to say, still pretty crowded).

Great photo. Happy you had, overall, a good time. And especially, a safe time.
So glad you have left your father and your mother and cleaved unto your children.
