Rosie with refried beans

Rose cups her hands around her mouth and whispers: “Mom, say ‘Rose, stop playing with your food.'”

Me: “Stop playing with your food.”

Rose: “Awwww! [Cups hands and whispers again.] Say ‘Just eat your food.'”

Me: “Just eat your food.”

Rose: “Awwww.”

(I’d also like to take this moment to publicly thank Rose for providing ALL my blog content this week.)

That is a great story! I love kids cutenesses, and I’m amazed that either your kids (Rosie, this week) are particularly cute, or you’re particularly good at recording it in a funny way.

  2. Anneke says:

I guess she’s at that developmental stage where she feels an unsettling lack of authoritarian compulsion.

I didn’t know that developmental stage existed.

  3. Mrs. Organic says:

I love that her response was Awwww! (and not no!)

Thora, I like to think I tell them well, but I also think it can’t be denied that Rose is an, um, exceptional child.

Anneke — LOL. You learn something new every day. (The sad part is that by the end of the meal Dean actually did have to remove her from the table when she continued using her fingers to eat her beans when he’d told her to use a spoon.)

Corrie, I guess it helped that she was forewarned of what I would say.

Oh, and Thora, in case you happen to come back and see this, I can’t think of another way to tell you that the particular format you’ve chosen for comments in Blogger is one that will NOT allow me to comment, no matter what I try (I’ve encountered this on other blogs, too, including my sister’s, and although we tried everything, the only thing that worked was for her to choose a different commenting format — the one with the pop-up box.) I’m not sure what’s wrong with me or my computer, but I’ve nearly left comments on your blog several times recently before I remembered I couldn’t.

I have to admit, the “Rosie-isms” are one of my favorite reasons for coming back! hehe 🙂
