Hold on a second

I asked Mabel to take Rose and Henry outside to play so they could get a little sunshine, away from the confines of television and a semi-bedridden mother.

Mabel: “Okay. It’s good weather outside. [Goes upstairs.] Come on, Rose and Henry, let’s go outside to play. No, you don’t need coats, it’s warm outside.”

Me: [Thinks to self.] “Hmm, I would have had them wear coats, but I guess they’ll be fine.”

Mabel: “And you don’t need shoes.”

And husbands. It wouldn’t surprise me to hear Patrick having this conversation with my kids. Okay, maybe a little bit, but it’s not too far of a stretch.
