Health status

I just realized I never updated what’s going on with me so far. I still have the high blood pressure, and the amniotic fluid levels were on the low side, so I’m supposed to lie down a LOT — as much as I can; 20 minutes for every hour I’m up, or any time when I can feel that my blood pressure’s up. (It’s easy for me to tell when it’s up — I feel exhausted and shaky when it’s high.) The lab results were good, though — no signs of pre-eclampsia, good iron levels, good thyroid levels. I’ve still got the remains of this dratted bronchitis and am still coughing and don’t quite have my full voice back, but I’m very slowly improving. They’ll keep doing fetal monitoring once a week (which will be easier to manage than the twice a week they had initially told me) and I’m supposed to pay close attention to make sure the baby’s moving regularly, and other than that I just have to be cautious and take it easy. This is of course easier said than done when you have four kids with busy schedules, but I’m doing the best I can, and trying to make sure I have Dean or the kids do all the lifting and moving that needs doing (like carrying laundry up and down stairs, etc.)

We’ve had lots of help — a neighbor who watches the kids for me when I go to appointments, other neighbors who’ve brought us meals, and very understanding ward members when I’ve had to miss meetings and cancel appointments. It’s been lovely to be so well cared for.

Oh, thank you TAMN! I would always do better if I would follow your example. And I’m eagerly awaiting hearing how the baby party went.

And Mom, I can’t put my finger on it, but you sound a little different, somehow. But thanks!

  4. Jennette says:

Oh, so jealous that you have TAMN commenting on your site directly!

Sorry to hear about the bedrest, but I’ll just hope that you have a lap top and that this means you get to do 20mins of blogging for every hour. Only a few more weeks to go, right!!

  5. zstitches says:

I don’t have laptop. 😦 I’ve been writing a lot of imaginary blog posts this week.

  6. zstitches says:

In fact, not only do I not have laptop, I even appear to be lacking indefinite articles.

  7. the MomB says:

Rose and I agree, moms in bed should have laptop. Anyway, you should have laptop.

  8. zstitches says:

Are you going to explain the inside joke? Or shall I?

  9. Sarah says:

So sorry to hear things have gone crazy!!! Hope the time goes as quickly as possible. Best of luck.

  10. the MomB says:

Oh, yeah, explain the inside joke, that would be the polite thing, wouldn’t it? I was thinking the story was on your blog already, but hey, where is it? In an e-mail?

Swennyway, I’m paraphrasing the Rose quotation at the end, but Rose wanted her Aunt Lili to play house. Lil was working on some stuff on her laptop, lying on her bed (she doesn’t have a comfy chair in her room), and wasn’t too keen on getting up to play. Not to worry. Rosie said, “You be the mom, writing on your laptop in bed, OK?”
