Great news re: Henry’s peanut allergy

I just heard back from the allergist about Henry’s RAST blood test, and he scored a “1″ on the test, which, while it’s not a zero, is still considered a negative result (I think even a 2 would have been considered “borderline.”) The doctor’s still recommending that we avoid feeding peanuts to Henry until he’s three; after that we’ll re-test him and go from there. We don’t have to worry about tiny traces of peanut contamination, which was really going to be the hardest part of dealing with this allergy — nor will we have to keep an Epi-pen around.

I told the doctor I was going to take his word for all this even though it’s April Fool’s Day (and he said he hadn’t even remembered it’s April Fool’s Day.) (I did get tricked by my siblings today, so I was on guard. I’ll tell that story here . . . later. Probably tomorrow.)

Oh, what a relief. It’s so much better to just barely *not* have to change your whole life around.
