Rains/pours, short version:

1. I was very sick Saturday.

2. Now I’m better, mostly.

3. This morning Rose had symptoms that made it look like she had spinal meningitis.

4. She had a spinal tap at the ER. She doesn’t have spinal meningitis. I’m very grateful.

5. I’m tired. I’m blessed. The end.

  1. I am sorry, what a nightmare!!! I am glad she doesn’t have Spinal Meningitis. Hope sunny days are coming soon to your household!!!

  2. Hey Zina, I just had to let you know, I appreciate your advice. In fact, I think I am going to install a lock on a door, so that I can put them somewhere where they can’t make messes when I need to get something done. Please keep giving me advice—I have got to find a solution. Thanks for caring!!!!

You are more than welcome. I just hope something will work for you. (I do gate Henry in my living room a lot, but unfortunately during this crazy sick season I have also been letting Rose watch LOTS of PBS in there, so that part of my solution is not really one I can recommend as ideal. However, as long as my kids are fed and changed and rested, I am sometimes amazed at how well they can entertain themselves in a smaller space, without having the run of the house. I think it takes a little conditioning before they don’t freak out about the captivity — and Henry’s always thrilled when I do let him out — but I tell myself it is better for them than having a mother in a mental institution, or their injuring themselves when my back was turned for that one minute.

That sounds like a rough day for you two. When it rains it pours. I’m glad Rose doesn’t have meningitis, what a relief for you. On days like these aren’t you glad you have family around?

There aren’t many things as scary as a doctor telling you your baby might have spinal meningitis, performing a spinal tap on said baby, and inserting an IV over, and over, and over again because they are apparently difficult to find in those chubby little arms. We went through that with Naomi too! Priesthood blessings, that’s all I have to say. Oh, and miracles…

I agree — the support I received this week, as well as the fact that Rose is running around happy and healthy today, are miracles. Now that Rose is healthy and Dean is back home, and I’ve gotten a little rest (not quite enough, but some,) the memory of my crazy/intense week almost seems surreal.
