A jolly bonfire to end the Christmas season

If there is enough snow on the ground to build a nice pile to put the tree’s trunk into, we like to burn our Christmas tree every year. My brother Spen captured these pictures on Sunday. Dry pine needles burn very quickly — the pictures cover just a few seconds’ time.

Great photography, Pilcrow! The CCD in your camera is very sensitive to infrared light, so it can see the embers “glowing” when they just look black to the eye.
